On Sunday, October 5, I went down to Underworld in Camden, London forthe launch of Blak Twang’s new album ‘Speaking From Xperience’ (Abstract Urban). Now classified as a veteran of the UK hip-hopmovement, this is his fifth album since his 1996 debut ‘Dettwork South East’ (which was not commercially released).

This concert was described as a "heady mix of inspirational sounds from the Honest Jon's label including Afro-funk, southern soul, Malian blues, storming brass & more", and with the likes of Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen, the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Damon Albarn, Kokanko Sata, Lobi Traoré, Afel Bocoum, Candi Staton, Simone White, Victoria Williams, Toumani Diabaté & more, the musical mix was certainly heady and at times very exciting.
